Contrary to expectations, brahmi oil isn’t pressed from any part of Bacopa monnieri. Brahmi oil is simply an oil maceration. Dried brahmi fruit extract (dried fruit of the whole plant or only leaves) is soaked in a chosen plant oil of neutral properties (e.g. jojoba, sunflower). In proper conditions, brahmi gives its valuable qualities to an oil which is now enriched with new properties.
What does brahmi oil consist of?
Active substances, included in brahmi oil, are mostly saponins which offer antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties. They are beneficial to hair because they eliminate inflammation and infections on the scalp. Besides, brahmi oil contains plant sterols, flavonoids and glycosides. All these active substances are essential to hair. Vitamins and essential fatty acids as well as their amount largely depends on the oil which is the basis of the maceration. Usually, the carrier oil is chosen to make brahmi oil suitable for all hair types. It's not a rule, though.
